The “Robertson Lenteskou”, is south africa’s second largest horse show in the country and is well known for its interesting stalls and events. You find something for everyone, from agricultural farming stalls to something for Mom and the kids.  The environment “Robertson” is also a very special area to visit and adds to the whole experience that the show offers.

The Robertson Spring (Lenteskou) Show is an annual modern and vibrant event hosted by the Robertson, Montagu, Bonnievale, Ashton, Mcgregor Agricultural Society.  Dates for 2012 : 2 – 6 October. It is a combined horse and agricultural show rolled into one, showcasing some of the best that the Valley has to offer. The show had it’s beginnings as far back as 1899, in fact the first show was opened by Mayor F E Wallston on 20 July 1899. It soon became established as a very important event in Robertson and the surrounding areas. Old photographs depicted only men participating in the competitions. This all changed in 1908 when the first Ladies Riding competition was held. Before 1965 it was only a competition for local riders, which changed in 1965 when the first Western Province Regional Saddle Horse Championships were held, thereby altering the character of the Show to a more horse orientated one. Today the Saddle Horse with the Welsch and Hackney Ponies are the main attraction of the show.

We where approached to assist them with the design and printing of a program flyer that will help market this great event. We designed the A5 flyer in Afrikaans, with a look and feel that will suit the theme and atmosphere of the show.  The client liked the idea of  a story / photobook where the images of the most important features of the show, such as celebrities and books and horses est was used as the main design elements that created the look and feel of a scrap book. We also used “spring” as a theme element, because the show was held in September.

It had to appeal to young and old, women and men and had to be an overall feeling of fun, laughter and interesting things to see.
